A winter-inspired wedding theme

With the Christmas weekend and Abby's wedding fast approaching (did we mention Abby is getting married the morning of Christmas Eve? No, we didn't? Oh, well . . . she is!), we thought it only appropriate to share with you this lovely late summer wedding with ever-so-small touches of New England winter inspiration.

You may remember Caitlin and her new husband, Steven, from their engagement session in historic D.C. a few months ago! After creating such beautiful images for their engagement, Jeff and Carolle were all warmed up to work with them on their wedding day. We're especially delighted to showcase many of the thoughtful details they included throughout their event. We hope you enjoy!

Ah, we love the wooden ski "signing board" and the touches of birch here and there . . . how quaintly New England, don't you agree? Thanks to the wonderful couple and their families for sharing their day with our studio!

A Boston skyline engagement session

Make sure you're sitting because you're about to swoon over these engagement portraits, for sure!

Jeff and Abby traveled to the heart of Boston to meet with Meredith and Ace back in early October for this sentimental session. Meredith and her family had visited the Dachowski Photography studio a few years ago, so we were elated when her mom called to share that Meredith was engaged! We were even more excited when Meredith told us that she and her fiance wanted to use her family home near the Common as the setting for their engagement portraits!

(The adventure also included a very tasty stop at Flour Bakery . . . their chocolate cupcakes are a decadent must!)

Jeff relished the opportunity to capture the couple in some of their special spots around town . . . . including a gorgeous rooftop view of the city!

Meredith told us she was staying in her family's home near the Common during the early part of their relationship and the nearby parks served as cornerstone spots for dates they shared- so sweet!

We're sure you agree there is something extra special about this session . . . we simply can't wait for their wedding next year!

A Christmas Carol inspired portrait session.

We're so delighted to share this next session with you . . . how gorgeous are these portraits of this sweet brother and sister?

This holiday sitting was photographed just a few weeks ago and we can't get over the classical "Charles Dickens" nature of the session. Maybe it's this little guy's cap or the lovely red dress worn by his baby sister . . . either way, we're totally smitten!

And to remind you to take a few moments to enjoy yourselves during the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, we take our advice from Mr. Dickens, as we could not say it better ourselves:

"I do come home at Christmas. We all do, or we all should. We all come home, for a short holiday . . . the longer, the better . . . to take and give a rest."
~Charles Dickens

A November outdoor portrait session.

Weather for outdoor portrait sessions is never a given here in New England, especially in the late fall . . . we all well know that one day can be a sunny 60 degrees and the next a full-on snowstorm! That makes it pretty tricky for us to plan outdoor portraits. We're always crossing our fingers hoping for clear skies and calm breezes.

You can imagine how nervous we were when our outdoor session with the Reynolds family approached in mid-November, especially this fall in particular. We'd already had some pretty unusual conditions and we weren't sure what to expect.

But oh, we were over the moon when the weather cooperated and Jeff was able to capture Gail and her family on the most gorgeous of days. We're sure you'll agree!

Jeff loves creating outdoor portraits all year long and after seeing these lovely results, never again will we doubt scheduling a session outside after October!

Holiday order and pick-up deadlines for 2011!

Greetings, everyone!

The studio has been in full swing for the holidays and we've scarcely had time to sit down! We're now officially into the month of December, which means the countdown to our deadline to order gift portrait orders has begun . . . but don't worry; we still have time to fit you in!

In order to guarantee your portraits arrive to our studio safe and sound and are placed in your hands by the holidays, we must receive your portraiture and holiday cards orders no later than the close of business on December 16th.

Also, it may seem weeks away, but please keep in mind that the final day to pick up your portraits before the Christmas holiday weekend is December 21st . . . it's also your last day to say hello to Abby before she gets married and moves far away to Nashville, so make sure you pay us a visit!

Skylines and cupcakes

There's just something about New York . . . looming skyscrapers, flashing lights, tasty food at every corner. There was just a little jealously bouncing around the office when Jeff and Carolle announced they were taking a quick weekend trip to the Big Apple (okay, Abby only makes up 1/3 of the studio staff, and the other 2/3 were going on the trip, but still . . .).

In addition to catching a Civil Wars show (if you haven't yet heard them, you must!) and taking some pretty great images of the view from the Empire State Building, Jeff and Carolle also found time to check out the Photo East Expo and a terrific bakery that has yet to hit the Boston area. We're crossing our fingers they head this way very soon! Crumbs is also the home to a "colossal cupcake" which isn't pictured here . . . but something Abby now has on her list to indulge in some day soon. Red velvet, anyone?
